PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
My heartiest greetings to all,
It has been such a fulfilling journey for me to lead and serve NUS Tamil Language Society (NUS TLS) as president for the past year.
This year has definitely been a challenge, owing to the Covid-19 situation, where numerous projects had to be put on hold or modified to suit the current situation.
As such, we organized multiple projects such as Saadhana Programme, to provide an online platform for tertiary students to understand more about university life and Spectra, where our objective has shifted to providing our community a platform to engage with topics such as health and wellness, through numerous challenges, interacting with the online Indian community in the process.

We have also helped out in numerous Community Service projects, especially those who are in need during the global pandemic.
NUS TLS 45 has definitely been the hallmark event for the year, with the lineup of Project Archive, which is a database covering 45 years of NUS TLS. Following that, the 100% online conference seeks to set out a new shift in direction for the society through discussions and also to allow students and community leaders to be aware and passionate about community-based issues. TLS 45 Gala series also seeks to provide an artistic platform for students to unleash their potential, even with the limitation of not having a physical space to perform.
Due to certain unexpected obstacles, my committee and I had a lot of setbacks, but those helped us to grow into strong-minded individuals and continue to work towards promoting the Tamil language and culture, as well as to uplift the Tamil community in other creative means.
It has truly been an honour working with the resilient individuals of the 41st Executive Committee and I would also like to thank all alumni, sponsors, and parents for their everlasting support over the years. I also send my best wishes to the incoming committee.
I would like to thank the Advisory Panel for consistently hearing our vision and working with us so diligently as well.
அனைவருக்கும் எனது மனமார்ந்த வணக்கங்கள். கடந்த ஆண்டில், தேசிய பல்கலைக்கழக தமிழ்ப் பேரவையின் (NUS TLS) தலைவராகப் பணியாற்றி, சேவை செய்தது நிறைவளிக்கும் அனுபவமாக இருந்ததுள்ளது.
கோவிட் -19 நிலைமையின் காரணமாக இவ்வாண்டு திட்டங்களைச் செயற்படுத்துவதில் நானும் என் செயற்குழுவும் பல சவால்களைச் சந்தித்தோம். குறிப்பாக, நிலைமைக்கேற்ப பல திட்டங்களை நிறுத்த அல்லது மாற்ற வேண்டியிருந்தது.
17-18 வயதுள்ள மாணவர்களுக்கு பல்கலைக்கழக வாழ்க்கையைப் பற்றி தெளிவுப்படுத்த ஒரு மின்தொகுப்பைச், சாதனா திட்டம் வாயிலாக வழங்க ஏற்பாடு செய்தோம். ‘ஆரோக்கியம்’ போன்ற கருப்பொருள்களை மையமாகக் கொண்டு, ஸ்பெக்ட்ரா திட்டத்தின் அடியில் இந்திய சமூகத்திற்கு இணையம் வாயிலாக சில சவால்களைத் திட்டமிட்டு, ஆரோக்கிய வாழ்க்கைமுறைகளை ஊக்குவிக்க முற்பட்டோம். அதுமட்டுமின்றி, ஏராளமான சமூக சேவை திட்டங்களில், குறிப்பாக தற்போதைய உலகளாவிய தொற்றுநோயின் காரணமாக, அதிகம் உதவி தேவைப்படுவோருக்கு, நாங்கள் உதவிக்கரங்களை நீட்டினோம்.
இவ்வாண்டின் முக்கிய நிகழ்வு NUS TLS 45 ஆகும். இதை முன்னிட்டு நாங்கள் ‘காப்பகம்’ திட்டத்தைத் தொடங்கினோம். அது NUS TLS-இன் 45 ஆண்டுகாலத்தை உள்ளடக்கிய ஒரு தரவுத்தளமாக அமையும். மேலும், எங்கள் ஆவணப்படத்தொடர், பொது மக்களுக்கும் பேரவையின் முக்கிய பங்குதாரர்களுக்கும், NUS TLS ஈடுபட்டுள்ள பல்வேறு திட்டங்கள் குறித்து தெரிவிக்க முற்பட்டது. திட்டங்களைச் செயற்படுத்தும்போது, உறுப்பினர்கள் கடந்து வந்த பயணங்களை அத்தொடர் எடுத்துக்காட்டும். பேரவையின் மரபைக் கொண்டாடுவது மட்டுமில்லாமல், அதன் தற்போதைய பொருத்தப்பாடைக் குறித்து பார்வையாளர்களுக்கு விளக்குவதையே அத்தொடர் தலையாய நொக்கமாக கொண்டுள்ளது. NUS TLS 45 ‘காலா’ தொடர் மாணவர்களுக்கு, ஒரு ஸ்தூலமான மேடை இல்லாததைப் பொருட்படுத்தாமல், அவர்களின் திறன்களை வெளிப்படுத்த ஒரு கலைத் தளத்தை வழங்க முனைந்தது.
சில எதிர்பாராத தடைகளின் காரணமாக, நானும் எனது செயற்குழுவும் நிறைய பின்னடைவுகளைச் சந்தித்தோம். ஆனால் அவை, நம் தமிழ் மொழி மற்றும் கலாச்சாரத்தை மேம்படுத்த, பிற வித்தியாசமான திட்டங்களை ஆலோசிக்க பல உத்வேகங்களை அளித்தன. மேலும், அவை எங்களைத் திடமான எண்ணம் மற்றும் நம்பிக்கைக் கொண்டுள்ள நபர்களாக வளரச்செய்துள்ளது.
41-ஆம் செயற்குழுவின் விரிவாற்றலுடைய நபர்களோடு இணைந்து பணியாற்றியதில் பெருமிதம் கொள்கிறேன். இத்தனை ஆண்டுகளாக எங்களுக்கு தொடர்ந்து ஆதரவளித்து வரும் அனைத்து முன்னாள் மாணவ பிரதிநிதிகள், நிதி ஆதரவாளர்கள் மற்றும் பெற்றோர்களுக்கு என் நன்றிகள். உள்வரும் அடுத்த செயற்குழுவுக்கும் எனது மனமார்ந்த வாழ்த்துக்கள்.
எங்கள் திட்டங்களை ஆதரித்து, எங்களுடன் ஒன்றாக வேலை செய்த அறிவுரைக் குழுமத்துக்கும் என் நன்றிகளை முன்மொழிகிறேன்.
